Alanna BurnettUIC College of Medicine
Alanna grew up in Oak Park, IL and graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. As the Clinical and Translational Science Research Fellowship recipient at UIC she assisted in a number of studies on the pathogenesis of bronchopulmonary dysplasia as well as conducting cancer and genomics research at Lurie. She has been extensively involved in leadership, community outreach and education. She has run health fairs for the underserved, volunteered extensively throughout the Chicago-land area, and served as a tutor and peer educator. She held executive board positions in the Student National Medical Association for four years with a proven track record in strategic planning, implementation, and communication. For this and other activities, she received the UIC College of Medicine Urban Health Program Emerging Leader Award. In addition, she is a thoughtful and engaged advocate for student wellness and served on the Wellness committee and Wellness/Resilience Curriculum planning committee at UIC. In her more leisurely moments, she was a 3 time state qualifier in badminton, including a win in the prestigious Chicago Open.
