Biographical Info

Ira comes from the Wasatch Mountains in Park City, Utah. He studied chemistry at the University of British Columbia, medicine at the University of Utah, and cancer genomics at the National Institutes of Health. He is a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society and founded the nonprofit organization, One Hour For Life, Inc. that focuses on providing sustainable healthcare through cross-cultural collaborations. Taking a winding path, he spent much of his 20’s working as a ski patrol, waiting tables, and traveling throughout Europe and East Africa. When Ira is not working in the hospital, you can find him nerding out with the human genome, jumping on his dirt bike, or at the nearest happy hour with his wife, Antigone (also a Peds resident). Ask him about how to mountain bike in Chicago, couples matching, and the art of working Star Wars references into everyday conversation.
